Meet Mitch

G'day, I'm Mitch - owner and operator here at Parts by Geci.

Parts by Geci is the result of a lifelong passion for cars, engineering and making things. I started selling parts on the side as a self-funding hobby. I needed parts for my car that were no longer available, so I decided to make them myself. If I needed the part, surely other people did too. So I made a few extras and put them out there for other enthusiasts like me.

Back in 2016, while I was studying Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Adelaide, I bought my first 3D printer - a Flashforge Creator Pro. It had a fraction of the print volume, features and part quality you can get today from a printer that costs half as much. What it did give me was a pretty solid understanding of 3D printing before it became mainstream. I had to tune print profiles, modify things and generally tinker with it to get the best out of what I had.

During the day, I work professionally as a Mechanical Design Engineer for an electronics company. Evenings and weekends are usually spent in the shed designing, testing and making automotive parts for car enthusiasts around the world, while also juggling a small family and life in general.
